Default PS3 Collossal shutdown

UPDATES
The bug has been fixed without an official patch. You should be able to get your PS3 back up and running. Make sure your saves and trophy data are all good. Anything you downloaded that was corrupted should be able to be fixed by redownloading them from the PSN Store.

Try resyncing trophies before assuming that they may be lost...some people have reported that this will restore them and others have said that just logging into the game brought them all back since the accomplishments are already compeleted, the game registers it and overwrites the corrupted data.

Errors include:

•The date of the PS3 system may be re-set to Jan 1, 2000.
•When the user tries to sign in to the PlayStation Network, the following
message appears on the screen; “An error has occurred. You have been
signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)”.
•When the user tries to launch a game, the following error message appears
on the screen and the trophy data may disappear; “Failed to install
trophies. Please exit your game.”
•When the user tries to set the time and date of the system via the
Internet, the following message appears on the screen; “The current date
and time could not be obtained. (8001050F)”
•Users are not able to play back certain rental video downloaded from the
PlayStation Store before the expiration date.
One of two things will happen at this point...sony will release a firmware patch, or it will naturally resolve itself tomorrow when the date/time changes.

Sony advises you do not turn on your PS3 in the event that something should corrupt the PS3's functionality.

It seems only "fat" versions have been affected. Slims should be fine. The link provided should be updated when there's new info.

Default Sony speaks on fat ps3s not working

Sony: 'Don't use your PS3' until internal clock bug is fixed

After a night of radio silence, Sony has finally spoken up about the game-crashing issues currently plaguing non-Slim PS3 models. A post on PlayStation Blog has confirmed that the problems are "being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system." The statement puts a loose timeframe on a fix for the issues, saying, "we hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours."

Additionally, the PlayStation Blog post includes a word of warning to PS3 Phat owners: "if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained Trophies, and not being able to restore certain data." (Read Sony's full statement after the break.)

We know you're curious to see what the console apocalypse looks like, but trust us -- it's just not worth it. We'll let you know when it's safe to turn your system back on.

Official statement from Sony:

"As you may be aware, some customers have been unable to connect to the PlayStation Network today. This problem affects the models other than the new slim PS3.

"We believe we have identified that this problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system.

"Errors include:

* The date of the PS3 system may be re-set to Jan 1, 2000.When the user tries to sign in to the PlayStation Network, the following message appears on the screen; "An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)".
* When the user tries to launch a game, the following error message appears on the screen and the trophy data may disappear; "Failed to install trophies. Please exit your game."
* When the user tries to set the time and date of the system via the Internet, the following message appears on the screen; "The current date and time could not be obtained. (8001050F)"
* Users are not able to play back certain rental video downloaded from the PlayStation Store before the expiration date.

"We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data.

"As mentioned above, please be advised that the new slim PS3 is not affected with this error. We are doing our best to resolve the issue and do apologize for any inconvenience caused."
